The Virgin Mini London Wheelchair Marathon is the opening event of the Virgin Mini London Marathon. The race is open to young people all over the UK in age category races: 11-13 years & 14-17 years.
The entry criteria requires participants to be able to self propel themselves over three miles within the time limit of 45 minutes. Competitors must wear a helmet & gloves and can either use a standard or racing chair. There will be opportunities for athletes to be fully classified before the race and we would encourage you to apply for this.
Since the launch of the Mini Wheelchair Marathon in the early nineties past winners have include David Weir (Double Beijing Paralympic Gold medal winner and 2008 London Marathon winner) and Shelly Woods (2007 London Marathon winner and winner of two Beijing Paralympic Medals)
Michelle Weltman is the team co-ordinator for the Virgin Mini London Wheelchair Marathon and has been involved with the event since 1999.
